About Me

wendyThank you for visiting The Bend in the Road, my little corner of the world. I hope you'll come and visit again. My name is Wendy, and I was born out west, but grew up in Texas, in the shadow of Texas A&M University. I later went to school there and met and married my sweetheart there, so it's no surprise that I still love Aggieland, and my Fightin' Texas Aggies!

I'm currently a stay at home mom to my daughter, the Sweet Girl. I've been married to my DH (Dear Husband) now for 20 years, and we live in a charming house, in a Norman Rockwellian neighborhood, in the Mountain West. I am very blessed.

So, why did I name my blog The Bend in the Road? Well, besides being a big Lucy Maud Montgomery and Anne of Green Gables fan, bends in the road have been a constant in my life. There have been twists and turns in my life that I never expected, among them have been infertility issues and surviving long term unemployment.

These are my adventures -- as I learn to accept these unexpected turns, hopefully with increasing grace, but at least with a sense of humor. ;-)

You will find me working on projects around the house and re-decorating as I bring my house out of the 1980's – on a small budget. I’m no handyman or decorator, so this will be an interesting journey. I also love finding ways to live well without breaking the bank. Look for those ideas here and there on this blog.

I myself am an ongoing project – I recently lost 64.4 pounds through Weight Watchers, and I’m a lifetime member. Each day I hold tight to this success, trying new and healthy recipes. Yeah, low-fat and healthy is the key, but it’s got to have the “yummy factor” to work for me!

I'm also working on preparing for the next chapter of my life after stay at home mom. My daughter is almost grown and it's time for me to discover (another) bliss and follow it -- another bend in the road!

In the meantime, I will continue to savor each day and make my home a haven for my sweet little family.

Enjoy your stay, and drop me a note (leave a comment) and say hi!
